Community Safety is a priority in Dunning, and residents often bring matters of concern to the attention of DCC. Issues such as road safety, anti-social behaviour, vulnerable persons etc. are advised upon and where necessary brought to the attention of our local Police. The Police occasionally attend our meetings whenever duties and resources permit.
One recent issue of concern was occasional fly tipping at some of the local woodlands and open spaces. The Community Council applied for funding to enable the purchase of a Trail Camera that could be used to deter and detect such incidents. Signage was placed at various locations, and the camera has been in use for over a year rotating around any local ‘hot-spots.’
Information regarding community safety and crime prevention is circulated through local social media. Each week, the Police circulate a ‘Commanders Bulletin’ highlighting issues of local concern and providing advice and guidance.
Dunning's local Community Police Officers are Sergeant Rob Southern and Constable Gillian Robertson, both of whom can be contacted by email: robert.southern@scotland.police.uk gillian.robertson4@scotland.pnn.police.uk
